Porsche is giving its all-electric Cayenne a round of upgrades for the 2027 model year, and the headline addition is an option that's never before been offered on the SUV: electric doors.
The feature lets owners open and close all four doors without lifting a finger, using the door handles, buttons inside the cabin, the curved Flow Display on the center console, or remotely through the Porsche Digital Key app. The driver's door is even smarter, shutting itself automatically once the seatbelt clicks in or the brake pedal is pressed.
Porsche says the system, powered by servo motors, is built to function reliably on hills and in other tricky conditions. A network of sensors continuously scans the area around each door, halting movement if it detects a person or object in the way. The doors will also refuse to open if the vehicle's exit warning system senses an oncoming car or cyclist approaching. Drivers who prefer the traditional method can still open and close the doors by hand at any time.

This kind of hands-free door technology is more commonly associated with ultra-luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, and Porsche first introduced it on the Cayenne Electric Coupe when that model launched four months ago. Until now, though, it wasn't actually available to order.
Comfort gets another boost with a new front massaging seat option that pairs with a 4D audio system. Each seat packs 16 air cushions and six sound actuators built into the cushions and backrests, offering five massage programs with adjustable intensity and vibration settings. Porsche says the actuators create an immersive four-dimensional sound experience, and the massage function works independently of the audio feature.

On the styling front, the Cayenne Electric now qualifies for Porsche's Exclusive Manufaktur Paint-to-Sample program, opening up 105 custom paint finishes in addition to the 13 standard and optional colors already offered. Inside, buyers can add the Extended Package Interior Style for extra leather trim and decorative stitching, along with additional leather and Race-Tex upholstery choices.
Pricing and performance specs carry over unchanged. The base Cayenne Electric SUV starts at $111,350, while the range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric Coupe begins at $170,350, both including destination and handling fees. Every version uses a dual-motor layout with a 108-kilowatt-hour usable battery, supported by an 800-volt architecture that allows charging up to 400 kilowatts and a 10-to-80% top-up in as little as 16 minutes. Range spans 298 to 339 miles depending on trim, while output ranges from 435 horsepower up to a staggering 1,139 horsepower. The 2027 Cayenne Electric is available to order now in the United States.
