Rare Lamborghini Reventon Roadster With Just 29 Miles Heads To Auction

Rare Lamborghini Reventon Roadster With Just 29 Miles Heads To Auction

Lamborghini has built a reputation for creating some of the most exclusive, eye-wateringly expensive limited-edition supercars in the business, and few examples capture that spirit quite like the Reventon Roadster. One of these ultra-rare machines has now surfaced for sale, offering a rare chance to own what is essentially a time capsule on wheels.

The Reventon Roadster debuted in 2009, two years after its hardtop sibling stunned crowds at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Lamborghini limited production to just 15 units, with each one originally priced at around $2.1 million. Because most buyers tucked their cars away in private collections, these roadsters almost never resurface publicly. Now, one is heading to auction through Joopiter in the United States, where it's expected to sell for more than $3 million.

This particular example was originally delivered to a customer in Singapore and has spent most of its 16-year life in storage, racking up a mere 29 miles (47 km) since new. That makes it likely one of the lowest-mileage Reventon Roadsters anywhere in the world. The car has since made its way to Miami, Florida, where it awaits its next owner.

Design-wise, the Reventon remains one of Lamborghini's most striking creations, even among the brand's wild lineup of limited-run specials. Drawing inspiration from fighter jets like the F-22, its sharp angles and aggressive lines pushed Lamborghini's design language further than anything before it. While the later Aventador, launched in 2011, adopted a similarly bold shape, it never quite matched the sheer presence of the Reventon.

Underneath its jet-inspired bodywork, the Reventon Roadster shares its mechanical foundation with the Murcielago, powered by Lamborghini's naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 661 horsepower, paired with a six-speed e-gear transmission. According to the auction listing, this particular car still wears its original drive belt and tires from 2009. A diagnostic scan even showed that the engine has spent 95 percent of its time running below 1,400 rpm, underscoring just how little it has been driven.

To prepare the car for sale, the team fitted a new battery and flushed the fuel system completely, making it about as close to a brand-new Reventon Roadster as anyone could hope to find today. Still, prospective buyers should be aware that additional mechanical work may be needed before the car is ready for regular driving, given its extended period of inactivity.
