2027 Audi Q9 Walkaround Reveals Automatic Doors, Dimmable Sunroof and Triple-Screen Dashboard

2027 Audi Q9 Walkaround Reveals Automatic Doors, Dimmable Sunroof and Triple-Screen Dashboard

Audi has pulled back the curtain on its newest flagship, the 2027 Q9, giving the public its first detailed look at what the brand calls its first full-size, full luxury three-row SUV. The walkaround tour, showcasing the vehicle in its sportier SQ9 trim, highlights a long list of design and technology features aimed at setting the Q9 apart in the large luxury SUV segment.

The SQ9 variant shown in the tour wears a honeycomb-patterned grille, which is also illuminated, giving the front end a distinctive glow. That lighting theme carries through to the exterior details, with turn signals that project illumination onto the ground at night, adding a subtle but functional touch for visibility and style.

One of the most eye-catching features demonstrated is the Q9's automatic door system. Rather than requiring occupants to manually pull doors shut, the doors open with a simple pull of the handle and then close automatically once the driver presses the brake pedal, streamlining entry and exit for what is meant to be a family-oriented, three-row vehicle.

Inside, the cabin is built around what Audi describes as a "digital stage" dashboard, featuring three screens spanning the front of the interior, including a dedicated display for the front passenger. This setup allows for a more immersive, tech-forward experience that extends control and entertainment options beyond the driver alone. Rounding out the charging and connectivity options are dual wireless phone chargers, positioned to keep devices powered without a tangle of cables.

Comfort and visibility features also play a central role in the Q9's design. The panoramic sunroof can be dimmed in sections, giving occupants control over how much light and openness they want in different parts of the cabin rather than an all-or-nothing setting. Outside, auto-dimming high beams adjust automatically to oncoming traffic, a feature aimed at easing nighttime driving.

The interior seating has also been engineered with both luxury and practicality in mind. The quilted seats add a premium look and feel, while the second-row seats are designed to slide and tilt, making it easier for passengers to climb back into the third row.

Taken together, the features shown in the walkaround suggest Audi is positioning the Q9 as a technology-rich, family-friendly flagship meant to compete at the top of the three-row luxury SUV market when it arrives for the 2027 model year.
