Lamborghini Huracán Bursts Into Flames After Slamming Into Tennessee Gas Pump

Lamborghini Huracán Bursts Into Flames After Slamming Into Tennessee Gas Pump

A 2021 Lamborghini Huracán was reduced to a burned-out shell on October 3 after crashing into a fuel pump at a gas station in Pleasant View, Tennessee. The young driver walked away without serious injuries, though the station itself sustained significant damage from the blaze.

According to reports, the Huracán was heading east on Highway 41A when it collided with a 2016 GMC Sierra that was pulling out of the gas station. The impact sent the supercar careening into the station's parking lot, where it struck a curb before slamming directly into a fuel pump. The collision ignited a fire that rapidly spread across the vehicle, engulfing the Huracán in flames.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the Lamborghini fully ablaze. Crews worked quickly to put out the fire and triggered the station's emergency fuel shutoff system, cutting off the supply before more gasoline could feed the flames. The fire still managed to scorch the pumps and the canopy overhead, but fire officials confirmed that the underground fuel supply itself never ignited, preventing what could have been a far more catastrophic explosion.

The driver was knocked unconscious in the crash. Two bystanders rushed to the burning car and pulled him free before the fire could spread further, likely saving his life. He suffered cuts to his head but avoided serious harm. Afterward, he told authorities he had no memory of the crash. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has suggested he may have suffered a medical episode just before the collision, though the precise cause of the accident remains unconfirmed.

Adding to the strange circumstances, the driver reportedly said he had rented the Huracán just the day before to use in a parade. That detail comes solely from his own account, and no further verification of the rental arrangement has been made public.

The Huracán that was destroyed carried Lamborghini's signature naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10, the engine that has defined the model's character since its debut. That distinctive powertrain, along with the rest of the car, was consumed by the fire following the crash into the pump.

In the end, the driver was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries, but the same can't be said for the Lamborghini or the gas station. The Huracán was left a total loss, and the fueling area suffered extensive fire damage, leaving investigators to sort out exactly what triggered the chain of events.
