Dubai Police Adds 920-HP Lamborghini Temerario to Tourist Patrol Fleet

Dubai Police Adds 920-HP Lamborghini Temerario to Tourist Patrol Fleet

Dubai Police has added a new hybrid supercar to its tourist-patrol lineup, welcoming the Lamborghini Temerario through a partnership with Lamborghini Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The addition puts a 920-horsepower machine on display near some of the city's busiest attractions, continuing the force's long-running practice of using exotic cars to engage with the public rather than chase down suspects.

Tourists gather near a popular city landmark.

The Temerario is built around a twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with three electric motors, with the hybrid system pushing total output to 920 horsepower. Lamborghini's official figures put the car's 0-to-62-mph sprint at 2.7 seconds and its top speed at 213 mph, with a front e-axle and a motor Lamborghini calls the P1 assisting the V8 to reach that combined power figure. Dubai Police has made clear that the car's role is about visibility and community interaction, not pursuit duty.

The Temerario now joins a fleet of attention-grabbing vehicles the department has assembled specifically to station at major tourist destinations and other high-traffic spots, where officers can interact directly with visitors and residents. It follows other standout additions to that collection, including a Mansory-tuned Ferrari 812 Superfast, reinforcing a strategy built on spectacle as a way to make the public feel more comfortable approaching law enforcement.

Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, described the program as "an innovative approach to policing, combining an effective security presence with community and tourist engagement." Colonel Mohammad Abdulrahman Abdulwahid, head of the Tourist Police Department, said the initiative reflects the force's commitment to "adopting initiatives that reflect Dubai's leadership and unique character," noting that these vehicles are deployed at heavily visited locations where officers can engage with the public directly.

Martino Picotti, general manager of Lamborghini Abu Dhabi and Dubai, characterized the handover as part of an ongoing relationship between the automaker and local authorities, saying the partnership "reflects the strong relationship between Lamborghini and the United Arab Emirates."

The Temerario's arrival adds to a broader global trend of police departments deploying unconventional, high-performance vehicles for public relations purposes. Similar efforts have popped up elsewhere, including Italy's police force receiving its own 907-horsepower Temerario, California Highway Patrol testing out a new Camaro, and discussions around Lucid vehicles potentially joining California's police fleet in the future. For Dubai, though, the luxury patrol program remains a signature piece of its approach to tourism-focused policing, using cars that draw crowds as a tool for building rapport rather than enforcing speed limits.
