Range Rover Sport Recall Hits 873 SUVs Over Cracked Rear Subframes

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 873 Range Rover Sport SUVs in the United States and its territories because of rear subframes that can crack, a flaw the automaker has linked to a supplier forging defect. Jaguar Land Rover North America filed the recall, campaign number 26V613000, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall covers 2024 through 2026 model year Range Rover Sport trucks built at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant between October 3, 2023, and May 22, 2026. Despite spanning three model years, the affected population is small, since the defect traces back to a specific batch of rear subframes rather than every vehicle built in that window. That means two Range Rover Sports from the same model year could fall on different sides of the recall depending on which subframe parts were installed. Owners are advised to check their vehicle identification number through NHTSA's recall lookup tool to see if their SUV is included.

The scope is far narrower than Jaguar Land Rover's earlier airbag recall this year, which touched more than a quarter-million vehicles across several nameplates, and is closer in size to a previous power-loss recall covering a limited slice of recent production.

According to the NHTSA filing, the problematic rear subframes came from suppliers Linamar Casting and Gestamp Assembly. Jaguar Land Rover says cracks can develop during the forging process before the part is even installed. The issue surfaced on June 4, 2026, when a forging defect was discovered in a rear subframe at the supplier level, prompting the part to be quarantined and triggering a wider investigation. Complicating matters, the cracks weren't reliably caught during manual inspections because a later machining step on the subframe can conceal the flaw visually.

The rear subframe is a structural piece that supports suspension and chassis loads at the back of the vehicle, so a worsening crack raises concerns about a potential failure under stress, which could elevate injury risk in a crash. Jaguar Land Rover's filing states that no accidents, injuries, or fires tied to the defect have been reported in the U.S., noting that the recall stemmed from supplier quality checks rather than any field complaint or crash report.

To fix the issue, dealers will inspect every affected SUV's rear subframe and repair or replace it free of charge. Jaguar Land Rover said owners of 2024-2026 Range Rover Sport models should get their rear subframes checked and replaced if necessary. Vehicles with a confirmed crack will go directly to replacement, while those whose build records can't rule out the defect will first undergo inspection. NHTSA's filing doesn't specify an exact notification date for this particular action. Until repairs are completed, owners are advised to avoid heavy towing or severe off-road driving and to contact a Land Rover dealer if their VIN shows an open recall.
