Ferrari F80 XX Caught Testing Up Close at Imola

Ferrari's track-only hypercar continues to show itself off, with the F80 XX now spotted testing at the Imola circuit in Italy. The sighting offers the closest look yet at the stripped-down, performance-focused variant of Ferrari's flagship F80.

The F80 XX had previously been caught testing at Portugal's Portimao circuit, but a fresh video circulating on social media, posted via Instagram, gives enthusiasts a much better view of the car despite its heavy camouflage wrap. The footage makes clear that Ferrari is pushing the XX's design in a far more aggressive, race-ready direction than the road-legal F80 it's based on.

Visually, the F80 XX stands apart with an enlarged front splitter reinforced by additional canards, designed to boost front-end downforce. The fenders feature louvres, likely aiding aerodynamic efficiency and heat extraction, while the rear end is dominated by a large, top-mounted spoiler that signals serious downforce ambitions for track use.

Ferrari has yet to release official technical specifications for the F80 XX, but expectations are building around what the track-only treatment might unlock. Given that the standard F80 already uses a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain, the XX variant is expected to run an unrestricted version of that setup, freed from the regulatory and emissions constraints that shape road cars. That could mean a notable jump in output alongside a more race-oriented character overall.

Beyond the engine, a racier transmission tune and a louder, less restricted exhaust system are anticipated, both hallmarks of Ferrari's XX program vehicles, which have historically served as extreme track specials built for Ferrari's exclusive client program rather than public roads. The suspension is also expected to be reworked, with wider adjustability likely offered to let owners tailor handling characteristics for different circuits and conditions.

As with previous XX models, the F80 XX is expected to be a limited-run, track-exclusive machine built for a select group of Ferrari clients, distinct from the road-going F80 hypercar. While the brand has kept official details under wraps, repeated sightings at circuits like Portimao and now Imola suggest testing is well underway, with camouflage still masking the car's final bodywork and aerodynamic details.

With no confirmed reveal date yet, fans will likely see more spy shots and videos emerge as Ferrari continues to refine the F80 XX ahead of an eventual official unveiling.
