Driver and dog killed as Audi crashes into parked car and bursts into flames in Powys

 

A driver and a dog have died following a collision on a mid Wales road on Saturday evening.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the crash happened on the A470 between Llyswen and Llansteffan in Powys at around 19:30 BST.

Officers were called after reports that an Audi A5 had caught fire and crashed into a parked Peugeot 2008, which also burst into flames.

The driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene, along with a dog that had been travelling in the back seat. Their next of kin have since been informed of the deaths.

The Peugeot was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The A470 was shut while an investigation was carried out, with the road reopening at about 17:00 BST on Sunday.

Dyfed-Powys Police has appealed for witnesses, or anyone with information or dashcam and other footage of the collision, to come forward and assist their inquiries.
