Cyclist in serious condition after Audi 'hit and run' on Foleshill Road

A cyclist remains in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in what police have described as a hit and run on Foleshill Road. West Midlands Police said the victim, a man in his 50s who has not been named, was still being treated in hospital on October 15 following the collision the previous evening.

Officers, along with crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service and the air ambulance, were called to the scene on Foleshill Road, near the junction with Webster Street, shortly before 5pm on October 14.

A force spokesperson said they were called to the area at around 4.50pm following reports that a cyclist had been hit by a grey Audi. The man in his 50s was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

A 19-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

West Midlands Police is now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward. The force is asking anyone who was in the area at the time and has relevant information to get in touch, either by calling 101 and quoting log number 4209 of October 14, or via the Live Chat service on the force's website.
