Audi Unveils the All-New Q9

Audi Unveils the All-New Q9

Great achievers across every discipline share one trait: they refuse to settle. Whether in art, architecture, or athletics, ambition outweighs achievement, and that restless drive was the animating idea behind Audi Canada's unveiling of its all-new Q9.

The event took place on a Tuesday evening at a private estate along the Niagara Escarpment, built around the theme "the consequence of our ideals." Guests first took part in a conversation with TIME Canada focused on the people and ideas shaping the country's future, setting the tone before Audi turned attention to its newest vehicle.

The Q9 marks Audi's first full-size luxury SUV, and it was built without compromise. Under the hood sits a twin-turbo V6 producing 429 horsepower, enough to hit 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. The performance-focused SQ9 pushes further still, drawing up to 591 horsepower from a twin-turbo V8. Both powertrains represent gains of roughly 90 horsepower over the previous generation's V6 and V8 engines. Quattro all-wheel drive remains constantly active, distributing grip before drivers even register a shift in road conditions, while adaptive air suspension gives the large SUV the handling feel of a far smaller vehicle.

The interior carries the same exacting philosophy. Buyers can choose a six-seat layout featuring second-row captain's chairs for a more premium, sportier feel, or opt instead for a seven-seat configuration at the time of purchase. A Bang & Olufsen sound system brings immersive 4D audio throughout the cabin, while the rear of the vehicle showcases a world-first: curved digital OLED lighting made possible through the use of ultra-thin glass, extending Audi's long history of innovation in automotive lighting design.

The evening's dining experience echoed the same pursuit of excellence found in the Q9 itself. The Pine's tasting menu, crafted by chef Jeremy Austin, drew on his travels abroad, blending Chinese culinary technique with ingredients sourced from Southern Ontario. The meal served as a quiet reminder that the discipline required to reach the highest standard looks much the same whether in a kitchen or an engineering lab.

Audi's guiding motto, Vorsprung durch Technik — "progress through technology" — has defined the brand for more than a century. The company frames the pursuit of perfection as a path to understanding, and expanding, one's true capabilities. With the debut of the Q9 family, Audi positions its newest full-size SUV as the clearest expression yet of that ongoing ambition.
