A rare 2022 Ferrari Daytona SP3, built originally as a factory development car and later used for high-profile media test drives, could fetch as much as £9.5m (about R210m) when it crosses the block at RM Sotheby's London auction on October 31.
The left-hand-drive supercar was completed in June 2022 and kept by Ferrari for press use before being sold. Auction house estimates place its value between £7.5m and £9.5m.
The Daytona SP3 is the third entry in Ferrari's exclusive Icona series, which blends contemporary engineering with styling drawn from the marque's history. First revealed in 2022, the model pays homage to Ferrari's mid-engined racing prototypes from the 1960s. Its name honours the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, when three Ferrari factory cars finished in a historic 1-2-3, a pointed response to Ford's win at Le Mans the year before.
Styling cues include a wrap-around windscreen, bold wheel arches, a removable roof panel and slatted rear bodywork. Rather than active aero systems, Ferrari's engineers opted for passive aerodynamic solutions, such as underbody channels that extract air.

Under the bodywork sits a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 producing 610kW and 697Nm, sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Ferrari claims a 0-100km/h sprint of just 2.85 seconds, and at launch the engine stood as the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 ever fitted to a Ferrari road car.

This particular example, chassis number 277499, carries added weight as a car built and specified directly by Ferrari itself. It wears a three-layer Giallo Triplo Strato yellow finish paired with a Rosso Ferrari leather cabin, extensive carbon-fibre body panels, airbrushed Scuderia shields, red brake callipers and 20-inch forged wheels. The car gained prominence after featuring in Motor Sport Magazine, Car & Driver, Road & Track and an episode of Top Gear.
Ferrari held onto the car until March 2025, when it was sold through UK dealer H R Owen, making the consignor its first and only private owner. By the time it was catalogued for sale, the odometer read 2,948 miles (4,744km). The sale includes owner's guides, its European Certificate of Conformity, tool and tyre inflator kits, plus both the removable carbon-fibre roof and a fabric roof alternative.
Given its factory development history, media exposure and unique specification, the car is expected to be one of the most desirable Daytona SP3 examples to reach auction. It follows a record set in August 2025, when a one-off 2025 Daytona SP3 "Tailor Made" sold for $26m (about R577m) at RM Sotheby's Monterey Car Week charity auction, benefiting The Ferrari Foundation.
